MARINE APPLICATIONS

Demanding conditions on the water.

Here MILITEC-1 is used in work boats powered by Detroit Diesel main engines and it is also put in the generators, gear boxes, bow thrusters, mud pumps, water pumps, and compressors.

TEST RESULTS from CENTURY ARABIAN INBOARD MARINE ENGINE
Tests were conducted on a Century Arabian 19 ft. Inboard with a 1981 Thermo Electron 350 HP V8 using a 4-barrel carburetor. The had 218 hours at the start of testing and 232 hours when testing was concluded. The crankcase holds 5 quarts of oil (Penzoil 10W-40 was used) to which 20 ounces of MILITEC-1 was added. It was also noted that the usually loud noise (a rattling) of the transmission at idle was silenced when 6 ounces of MILITEC-1 was added to the Textron II transmission fluid.

Capt. James Wisner says "Not only do I use MILITEC-1 in my engines, but I also use MILITEC-1 as the finest reel lubricant in the world"
A SUMMARY OF REPORTS ON MARINE USE
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) chapter at New York Institute of Technology used a small Briggs and Stratton engine treated with MILITEC-1 in an amphibious racing vehicle. Water entered the engine during high speed racing without causing any harm. Their report says that the engine was operating as if it were new after 1,000 hours of extreme operating conditions and water contamination. Equally important, there was no sign of corrosion.
A Charter Company said "Well I'll tell you I'm glad that I tried MILITEC-1 on the boat or we would have had at least $25,000 in down time and replacement parts.
"First of all we operate two Volvo Penta TAMD-30's in our 58ft catamaran. One day we were out on a charter and the rear seal in the raw water pump failed which in turn leaked salt water directly into the engine. While this was occurring my captain was totally unaware of it, the temp. gauge didn't go up , only the oil pressure dropped. He figured it was a gauge problem since the engine didn't get hot. After the charter he discovered no oil on the dipstick then opened the oil cap and found that the oil turned to a grease-like grey goop. We rebuilt the water pump, added oil and engine flush to the motor 3 times."
"Well that was 6 months ago and we haven't had any problems with the engine and has been out at least 200 times and has accumulated at least 1000 hours since then."
"The results of our testing MILITEC-1 in 2 cycle marine engines. A less objective test was carried out using a 5.7 liter Mercruiser I.O. Fuel consumption is down measurably and the engine starts with less effort. Where I used to make four trips on a tank of gas, I now make six."
"We have been so impressed with MILITEC that we are now using it in our six work trucks."
Captain Brad Young said his old Johnson outboard ran much smoother and wasn't as clunky, he also picked up 300 RPM's when trimmed out after treating the 60 gallon fuel tank with 8oz. of MILITEC-1. He has been using it on his fishing reels and won't use anything else. "MILITEC-1 is an amazing product!"
A Charter Fishing boat with Johnson & Towers (J&T) GM/Detroit Diesel 671 TI engines with 1800 engine hours was treated with MILITEC-1. The transmissions had an immediate 8 degree temperature drop and had less audible "rumbling". After the engines were treated, there was also a 7 degree temperature drop from 193°F to 186°F. Fuel consumption decreased by an average of 22.6 gallons per trip. This was an 8.6% improvement.
With the engines at 5,883 hrs a compression test was performed on all 6 cylinders of each motor. New, "factory" specs call for 475 psi/cyl. On 5 of the 6 starboard cylinders, they were 475 with only 1 cylinder measuring 470 psi. The port motor also had excellent results with 4 cylinders testing 475 psi and 2 cylinders at 468 - 470. Absolutely amazing results. It is not uncommon for these motors to need rebuilding at 3,000 hours which would be under 450 psi.
Chesapeake Sailing Association is pleased to advise you that our use of MILITEC-1 in Marine Engines has proven to be very effective. Since treating the engines with MILITEC-1 we have experienced a noticeable decrease in engine noise and an estimated 33% increase in fuel economy. Based on these findings we are pleased to endorse the use of MILITEC-1 in Marine Engines.
25 HP Johnson Outboard Engine Test
We were receiving units that had scored cylinder walls, due to oil failure. I had acquired nine 25HP Johnson outboards from the salvage yard and put together two units as identically as possible. I set the two units in a 750 gallon test tank and ran them for four hours each, overflowing the tank as I went along to provide cooling to the engines. I sprayed MILITEC mixed with regular outboard engine oil into the carburetor for lubrication of one unit, and just regular oil into the other unit ( 1 qt each ) and ran both engines without lubrication until they stopped from lack of oil. The one using MILITEC kept running until we had to shut it off and check for lubrication in the fuel tank. I started it again and it ran for another 10 to 20 minutes. It began to slow down and finally stopped. I disassembled both units. The Militec unit did in fact offer more protection than the outboard motor oil alone. The MILITEC unit was repairable, the untreated unit was beyond repair.
With the quantity of MILITEC-1 I purchased, I was able to treat my 1984 33' Trojan power boat, it's transmission, drive system and generator, my 1990 Volvo 780 Bertone and my wife's 1987 Volvo GLE wagon.
The most noticeable differences are that the boat now runs much quieter and has experienced an increase of a minimum of 150 peak RPM. This improvement means an increase in fuel economy. In addition, the 1987 Volvo's automatic transmission shifting has improved, becoming more positive and smoother.
Thank you for introducing me to MILITEC-1. I won't run an engine without it!
